With Anesthesia & Surgery

What to expect when your pet has surgery booked....

At Central Nova Animal Hospital elective surgeries are scheduled Monday - Friday.
It is important that your pet has nothing to eat or drink after midnight the night before.

Surgeries are admitted between 8 and 8:30 in the morning. When you arrive, check in with the front desk.
An Animal Health Technician will take you into an exam room and review the procedure booked for that day.  They will answer any questions you may have and collect information such as contact numbers and record any concerns for the veterinarian.  They will discuss bloodwork, pain medication and give you an overview of how your pet's day will go.  A quote will be provided. They will ask you to call after lunch or give you the option of receiving a text update after surgery.

Morning surgeries are usually discharged around 3 pm, afternoon surgeries around 7pm.
If a procedure requires your pet to stay overnight, most will be discharged the following morning,
When you come to pick up your pet, the receptionist will go over any home instructions and review your bill with you. At that time a technician will bring your pet out to you.  We will do a follow up phone call in a few days to check on your pet, but if you have any questions or concerns at any time please feel free to call.

Payment is due on discharge and for major surgeries a deposit may be requested; for more information review Payment Options
